Jitendra Shah, P.E.
President & Founder
A true metallurgist in every sense, Mr. Shah founded APL in 1976 with a vision to provide better scientific service to the industry. With over 55 years of experience supervising commercial laboratories and consulting for foundries, he brings unparalleled insight to failure analysis and product evaluation.
Credentials: B.S. in Physics, B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering, Registered Professional Engineer (PE – Wisconsin).

Dr. Tarla Shah
Vice President
Dr. Shah is the backbone of APL’s corporate culture. As Vice President, she oversees the organizational strategy. Her leadership ensures that despite our growth, we maintain the agility and personal touch of a small business.

Rakesh Shah
Vice President
Rakesh brings a human touch to the technical world of metallurgy. As Vice President, he wears many hats—from overseeing daily operations and Human Resources to driving the company’s strategic growth. He is passionate about bridging the gap between the lab and the client, making “metallurgy for the non-metallurgist” a reality. Ultimately, Rakesh sees his role as the team’s biggest supporter, ensuring that every employee has the tools, environment, and guidance they need to thrive.

Jayne Cotter
General Manager
For many clients, Jayne is the voice of APL. With over 45 years of dedication to our customers, she manages daily communications, accounts, and ensuring the office runs seamlessly. She is the primary liaison for reporting and customer service.
Focus: Customer Relations, Accounting, & Logistics.

Joseph Worzala
Quality Control / Shop Manager
Joe is the guardian of our accuracy. With over 40 years of quality assurance and machine shop experience, he ensures APL meets the rigorous standards of ISO/IEC 17025. He manages all instrumentation, calibration, and written procedures to ensure compliance with national and international standards.
Focus: Quality Assurance, ISO Compliance, Calibration, Shop Efficiency.

Dr. Richard Guo
Senior Metallurgist
With over 40 years of direct industry experience, Dr. Guo ensures that every failure analysis is conducted with the utmost scientific rigor. He excels at translating complex metallurgical data into clear, actionable insights, ensuring that the “why” behind the results is understood by every client, regardless of their technical background.
Focus: Advanced Failure Analysis, Defect Identification, & Technical Consulting.
